I attended the afternoon session of the Learn & Play kickoff yesterday and really enjoyed the presentation by Michael Stephens titled The Hyperlinked Library. He is a professor, columnist for Library Journal, and has a blog called Tame the Web. He shared some great things that other libraries around the world are doing to get their users involved. I liked the section where he talked about how libraries should “speak in a human voice”. One of the examples he used was from the Darien Library in Connecticut…on their website you can link to a number of blogs written by staff and users. The one that he highlighted is called “The Front Desk Speaks Up” and it’s where the circulation staff talk about popular books. Pretty cool!
Who else attended the Kickoff? What did you think?
